Cannabinoids are a class of chemical compounds that are produced both by the human body, as well as the cannabis plant. Endocannabinoids are the compounds that are naturally produced by the human body, and bind to cannabinoid receptors. Exogenous cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids, are the compounds that occur naturally in the cannabis plant.
The two best-known phytocannabinoids in the cannabis plant are THC and CBD. These bind to humans’ cannabinoid receptors to produce a myriad of effects, including relief from anxiety, pain and nausea.
